Toilet cubicles for disabled users



Standard toilets are not suitable for everyone. One of the easiest ways to increase the accessibility of toilets for people with disabilities is to increase their size.

To be officially classed as wheelchair accessible, toilet cubicles need to be 2220mm in length with a depth of 1500mm. This type of cubicle also requires an outward opening door.

For ambulant cubicles - designed for those with disabilities that don’t specifically require wheelchair space - size requirements are 850mm wide x 1500mm deep. These dimensions are the same as a standard toilet, but an ambulant cubicle must provide a minimum of three grab rails and have an outward opening door.
